Star Trek Online provides lots of customization for characters and starships. There are also pre-built templates for popular species which the player can use (see Playable Species).

Character CreationEdit

Cryptic Studios has created an innovative player customization system. Players are able to create their own alien races, and find their friends' unique alien creations as well. Custom alien races present many design options, from basic racial traits to physical appearance (including size and facial structure). This lets you create a race that is unique from anyone else's design. Federation and Klingon players use the 'Alien' option to create a custom race.

Ship CustomizationEdit

Players will be able to edit the configuration and look of their ships. The first time a player acquire a new ship they can adjust the style and model of it once for free; every customization after that will cost credits.
